iProductions has announced its cooperation with The Producers (Hani Osama) and Film Clinic (Mohamed Hefzy) on the production of the film Sheikh Jackson by director Amr Salama, which is set to be released in theatres during 2017.
It's worth mentioning that the three companies accompanied the Arab Cinema Center (ACC) to the 70th Cannes Film Festival as part of their partnership. Sheikh Jackson marks the second collaboration between the three companies after Hepta: The Last Lecture (2016) that topped the Egyptian box office with revenues that surpassed EGP 27 million, making it the highest-grossing romantic film in the history of Egyptian cinema.
On the one hand, the joining of iProductions in the film's co-production was highlighted by Screen
Daily, on the other hand Variety has announced that the German company Media Luna has acquired
the distribution rights to Sheikh Jackson outside the Arab world through Daniel Ziskind, the manager
of Film Clinic in Europe.
The events of the film take us back to 25 June 2009 as the news of Michael Jackson's death took the world by storm affecting many, especially a preacher who is dubbed "Jackson" during his school days. But, what does a preacher have in common with the King of Pop? More importantly, can he now go back to his normal life, or will his memories and relationships with his loved ones raise the most prominent question in his mind? Is he the Sheikh, Jackson, or both?
Co-produced by The Producers and Film Clinic in collaboration with iProductions, Sheikh Jackson is written and directed by Amr Salama and co-written by Omar Khaled. The film stars Ahmad Al Fishawy, Maged El Kedwany, Ahmed Malek, and Amina Khalil. The film will also feature several guest stars, including Dorra, Basma, and Mahmoud El-Bezzawy.
The Arab Cinema Center (ACC), organized by MAD Solutions for the third year, is an international promotional platform for Arab cinema as it provides the filmmaking industry with a professional window to connect with their counterparts from all over the world through a number of events that it organizes. The ACC also provides networking opportunities with representatives of companies and institutions specialized in co-production and international distribution, among others. The Center's activities vary between film market main wings, introduction and networking sessions for Arab and foreign filmmakers, welcome parties, as well as meetings with international organizations and festivals, and the issuance of the Arab Cinema Magazine to be distributed at the leading international film festivals and markets.
