Imaginarium Films in Cannes With Holy Spider and Rebel
14 April 2022:

Founded by Jordanian producer Rula Nasser, Arab Cinema Center’s partner Imaginarium Films will join Cannes Film Festival with two new films.

HOLY SPIDER by director Ali Abbasi joined the Main Competition of the 75th Cannes Film Festival. The film is produced by Imaginarium Films, Profile Pictures, One Two Films, and co-produced by Nordisk Film Production, Wild Bunch, Why Not Productions, Arte France Cinéma, and Film i Väst. HOLY SPIDER is Ali Abbasi's latest film after his Cannes-winning Swedish-Danish feature film BORDER.

Most recently, Imaginarium Films also finished co-producing Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah’s upcoming feature REBEL, which will take part in the festival's Midnight Screenings.

In HOLY SPIDER, we follow family man Saeed as he embarks on his personal religious quest to "cleanse" the holy city of Mashhad of immoral and corrupt street prostitutes. After murdering several women, he grows ever more desperate about the lack of public interest in his divine mission.

REBEL, which will take part in the festival's Midnight Screenings, is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, and it is a story about an immensely powerful and nuanced portrayal of a family torn apart over a little Muslim boy's future.
