All Eyes on Jordan’s Film Industry at this Year’s Cannes Film Festival

Several of the leading figures of the Jordanian film industry will come together at this year’s Cannes Film Festival for a high-profile panel to discuss how their country has become a global model in production capacity building and sustainable growth.

The Royal Film Commission - Jordan (RFC) and The Arab Cinema Center (ACC) in cooperation with Marché du Film, will jointly host ‘Jordan: A Case Study in Sustainable Growth’ at the 77th Cannes Film Festival on May 20th from 11:15 am to 12 pm.

Moderated by Nick Vivarelli from Variety, the panel involves key players from Jordan, as well as those outside the country who have been deeply involved in filmmaking there. They include: Mohannad Al-Bakr, Managing Director of the RFC; Jordanian superstar actress and producer Saba Mubarak; Jordanian producer Rula Nasser; Shahinaz El Akkad, CEO of Egypt’s Lagoonie Group; Jacob Jarek, the Danish producer involved in HOLY SPIDER, which shot in Jordan; and Jordanian director Bassel Ghandour, who co-wrote and produced Jordan’s first even Oscar-nominated feature film, THEEB, before making his directorial debut with THE ALLEYS.
