The Sapporo International Short Film Festival is Japan’s largest showcase of short form cinema, bringing in from 2800 to 3500 entries per year from all genres. The festival serves as an opportunity open for filmmakers to exhibit and share their work to large audiences and get feedback from international jury members. In recognition of the best films, the festival hands a huge number of awards that include Best National Short, Best Director, Best Animation, Best Documentary, Best Contemporary, Experimental Short, Best Non-Dialogue, Best Student Director, Best Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Original Score, Best Cinematography and Best Production Design along with other individual awards and Short Fest Special Awards.
