Founded in 1997, The Outfest Screenwriting Lab started as a screenwriting contest and has grown to be an intensive three-day lab in Los Angeles that aims to support the next generation of filmmakers. The lab only considers narrative feature-length screenplays and episodic pilot script (standard broadcast length – half hour or hour). It also offers a screenplay presentation, where filmmakers along with Outfest directors present their screenplays on stage with a live reading at the Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ Film Festival in July.
