Founded in 2007, Waterford Filmmaker is held every year in the historical and cultural city of Waterford. It strives to bring together independent filmmakers from around the world, especially student filmmakers and first time filmmakers. The festival features short screen play competition along with screening 100 short films featured in 8 short programmes that each includes 14 short films. The festival chooses from the diverse array of the participating films 40 shorts to award and recognize.
