NADINE LABAKI
DIRECTOR, ACTRESS & WRITER
LEBANON
The first female Arab director to have her film selected for the Cannes main competition since Heiny Srour in 1974, Nadine arrives on the Croisette as already the most successful Arab director in box-office history. Her two previous films, CARAMEL and WHERE DO WE GO NOW? (which is still Lebanon’s top grossing film) have taken more than $21 million between them from worldwide theatres. Now after a seven-year absence as a filmmaker she unveils CAPERNAUM, a politically charged fable about a child who launches a lawsuit in a fishing village. Nadine has more than 2 million followers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
