Two of Hany’s Arab films have received Oscar nominations: 2005’S PARADISE NOW and 2013’s OMAR. His reputation was such at 20th Century Fox came calling when they wanted a director who could mix elements of survival and romance for its adaptation of THE MOUNTAIN BETWEEN US. Although it left audiences and critics unmoved, Hany showed he could handle a big-budget logistical challenge and attract stars such as Idris Elba and Kate Winslett.
