Even before her acclaimed third feature film WAJIB, Annemarie had been making waves as a pioneer. LIKE TWENTY IMPOSSIBLES was the first short by a Palestinian director selected at Cannes. Her 2008 feature debut SALT OF THIS SEA was the first directed by a Palestinian woman. Not a huge hit commercially in the Arab world, WAJIB has nontheless created an international stir since premiering in Locarno’s main competition last year. Sold to Amazon in the US, WAJIB has three nominations in the ACC’s Critics Awards 2018.
