CAREER HIGHLIGHT(S):

A member of the Association of Film Commissioners International, Film AlUla is a film agency established by the Royal Commission for AlUla to become a key player in developing the film industry in Saudi Arabia. Since 2020, the agency has hosted over 1,200 days of filming, including the action movie KANDAHAR starring Gerard Butler, the Russo brothers’ drama CHERRY starring Tom Holland, and Saudi filmmaker Tawfik Alzaidi’s film NORAH, which was the first Saudi feature filmed at AlUla with over 40% of the crew being Saudi. Film AlUla has partnered with Hollywood indie studio Stampede Ventures, bringing 10 productions to the region over three years with a projected $350m in funding. Film AlUla has opened the AlUla Studios complex, a full-service facility with a 30,000-square-foot soundstage, a backlot, production support buildings, warehouses, and a recording studio.


TWELVE-MONTH HIGHLIGHT(S):

AlUla Studios Opening & Management: Film AlUla opened its integrated studio complex, featuring a 30,000-square-foot soundstage, backlot, and recording studio. In May 2025, The MBS Group was appointed to exclusively manage and operate the facility, pairing the hub with a globally recognized premium studio brand. Construction is continuing through 2026 to further build out production support buildings and workshops to host larger-scale international projects.
Villa Hegra Specialized Program: Launched in December 2025 in collaboration with Film AlUla, this initiative offers training in scriptwriting, directing, and post-production to nurture local Saudi talent.
AlUla Creates: This ongoing platform empowers Saudi female filmmakers and creatives through collaboration with industry veterans and access to development funds.
Red Sea Fund Partnership: In November 2025, Film AlUla and the Red Sea Fund announced their third year of collaboration, supporting 10 films to date across the Arab World, Africa, and Asia.
City of Film Shortlist: In April 2026, AlUla was officially shortlisted for the prestigious ‘City of Film’ category at the 2026 Global Production Awards, with winners to be announced during the Cannes Film Festival.
Hollywood Partnership: Film AlUla signed a 10-project deal with Greg Silverman’s Stampede Ventures.
