CAREER HIGHLIGHT(S):

The founder of London-based Cocoon Films, Sawsan Asfari, has built a strong slate of internationally acclaimed independent films. Working across Europe and the Middle East, she specializes in auteur-driven projects that combine artistic ambition with global reach. Her producing credits include FOR SAMA, which premiered at Cannes and went on to earn an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature, as well as THE CAVE, which also received an Oscar nomination and won the Grierson Award at the BFI London Film Festival. She has also produced fiction features such as Sally El Hosaini’s THE SWIMMERS, which opened the TIFF and achieved wide international distribution.

A Hattrick of Productions: Asfari produced Annemarie Jacir’s TIFF title PALESTINE 36, Kaouther Ben Hania’s Oscar-nominated title THE VOICE OF HIND RAJAB, Nadia Falls Sundance title BRIDES.
GIRL IN THE CLOUDS: She also worked on Philippe Riche’s animated movie, set to release in July of this year.
LIFE SUPPORT: Asfari’s name is attached to Daniele Rugo’s documentary on the state of Gaza and its medical professionals since the events of October 2023. The film is currently in post-production.
