Rani Massalha achieved widespread international acclaim with his feature directorial debut, GIRAFFADA. Starring Saleh Bakri and Roschdy Zem, the film world premiered at the TIFF and embarked on an extensive global tour. Produced by MACT Productions and distributed in France by Pyramide, the film’s reach was further amplified when it was acquired by Netflix for worldwide distribution. Massalha’s early cinematic promise was recognized at the Cannes Film Festival, where his short film ELVIS OF NAZARETH was honored with the uniFrance Special Prize. As a producer, he has been involved in bringing internationally recognized Palestinian films to the screen, including titles such as GAZA MON AMOUR and DÉGRADÉ.
ONCE UPON A TIME IN GAZA: Massalha was part of the Nasser Brothers’ extensive production team on their latest Cannes title.
CONFIDANTE: He also produced Çağla Zencirci and Guillaume Giovanetti’ Turkish-French title, which premiered at the Berlinale’s Panorama Program. It later featured at the American French Film Festival and Istanbul.
THE RETURN OF THE PRODIGAL SON: Massalha is set to direct this high-profile project, which won the top production award at the Red Sea Souk and received funding from the Doha Film Institute.
