Born out of a collective desire among Palestinian film professionals to support and strengthen Palestinian cinema, the Palestinian Film Institute (PFI) was established in 2019 as an independent nonprofit organization. The PFI works to advance projects, foster partnerships, and open long?term pathways for production and distribution.

PFI at Cannes 2026: This year, PFI returned to the Marché du Film with the Palestine Pavilion, presenting four documentary projects by Palestinian filmmakers in the Cannes Docs in Progress – Palestine Showcase and bringing four Palestinian producers to join the Producers Network.
Palestine Film Fund’s first cycle: Founded at Cannes 2025 to provide financial and sectoral support to Palestinian filmmakers
working on films of various lengths and at different stages of development and production, the fund selected nine projects out of
167 submissions for its first round.
