
While heavily reliant on its international catalog, which has over 7,400 titles, including 589 new originals added in 2024, Netflix has also introduced a few Arabic originals, starting with the Jordanian supernatural horror series JINN, which was released in 2019. Netflix also took the lead in streaming Arabic classics, acquiring the rights to Egyptian director Youssef Chahine’s films in June 2020, followed by the addition of more recent titles from across the Arab World. In 2022, the streaming giant launched its ‘Because She Created’ Category, which features 21 films by Arab women filmmakers spanning various genres.
Subscriber Count: With the SVOD market in MENA estimated to surpass 27m subscribers by the end of 2025, Omdia’s latest data shows Netflix has more than 3m subscribers.
