
A renowned visual artist, producer, and DOP who has lent his creative prowess to several cinematic masterpieces, including his debut feature, 19 B, which earned him the Best Artistic Contribution Award at the Cairo International Film Festival, followed by I PROMISE YOU PARADISE, which competed at Cannes Critics’ Week and won the Rail d’Or, the Valbonne Audience Award, and more than a dozen best cinematography awards worldwide. In 2024, he returned to Cannes with THE VILLAGE NEXT TO PARADISE, the first-ever film shot in Somalia to screen there, earning him Best Cinematography at Carthage and Diagonale. He also co-founded Qaa’23, producing I PROMISE YOU PARADISE and ENOUGH WATER TO DROWN.
AISHA CAN’T FLY AWAY: El Kashef returned to the 2025 Cannes with Morad Mostafa’s debut feature, as the first Egyptian film in nine years in Un Certain Regard.
Fourth Cannes Entry: El Kashef marked an unprecedented milestone, becoming the first Egyptian DOP to return to the Cannes Film Festival for four consecutive editions. This year, he serves as DOP on BEN’IMANA, directed by Rwandan filmmaker Marie-Clémentine Dusabejambo, which will have its world premiere in the festival’s Un Certain Regard section.
El Gouna Jury Member: At the eighth edition of the El Gouna Film Festival, El Kashef earned a seat as a jury member in the Short Films competition.
