MOROCCAN
CAREER HIGHLIGHT(S):

The CCM was established in 1944 concurrently with Morocco’s Manifesto of Independence. Thus, it is one of the world’s oldest public institutions that regulates and promotes the film industry. The CCM’s primary missions include regulating and inspecting the various film sectors (production, distribution, exploitation), regulating and inspecting audiovisual production, supporting the film industry, promoting Moroccan films, and maintaining the archive of film heritage.

TWELVE-MONTH HIGHLIGHT(S):

Foreign Production Boom: In January 2026, the Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication announced that foreign film shoots in Morocco generated a record MAD 1.5bn ($150m) in 2025. This is a massive increase from the sub-MAD 500m average seen prior to 2021. The surge was driven by major Hollywood projects, most notably Christopher Nolan\'s THE ODYSSEY, which filmed in Aït Benhaddou, Essaouira, and Marrakech.
Incentive Impact: In 2025 alone, the CCM supported 23 foreign features through its tax incentive scheme, which is now capped at 30%.
Festival Support: In March 2026, the CCM approved MAD 5.49m in funding for 28 domestic film festivals across the country, including events in Khouribga, Dakhla, and Chefchaouen.
National Production Grants: The CCM continues to manage an annual budget of roughly €10m for grants supporting national narrative, documentary, and animation projects.
