
AFLAMUNA is a cultural nonprofit based in Beirut working to harness the power of independent Arab cinema to elevate the most pressing social, political, and artistic movements. Established as a cooperative under the name of Beirut DC in 1999 by a group of Lebanese filmmakers and cultural organizers, it became a nonprofit organization in 2006 under the same name, launching multiple programs and initiatives that helped independent cinema in the Arab World. For its past nine editions, AFLAMUNA Connection has supported over 160 Arab Independent feature films by offering a comprehensive co-production platform through which Arab filmmakers and producers connect with international industry professionals. In its 2025 edition, the platform facilitated 340 meetings with more than 70 regional and international industry experts for its selected films.
AFLAMUNA x Cinemed Encounters: Supported by France’s National Cinema Centre (CNC), the initiative, which was held in Montpellier, France, in October 2025, selected seven Arab feature projects in development where their filmmakers met producers and professionals from France and beyond to foster co?production, collaboration, and long?term partnerships.
Mesahat AFLAMUNA: Designed to train participants in managing and programming community cinema spaces, the program selected 42 individuals and spaces across Syria and Iraq.
The AFLAMUNA Independent Resources Initiative: Launched to reinvigorate the independent Arab film ecosystem, the program returned for its second edition, selecting ten organizations and initiatives.
