
Christopher Aoun gained international recognition for his cinematography on CAPERNAUM, which won the Jury Prize at Cannes, received an Academy Award nomination, and earned him the German Cinematography Award. He later shot THE MAN WHO SOLD HIS SKIN, another Oscar-nominated Arab feature, further cementing his reputation as one of the leading cinematographers working across the region and Europe. He was also named one of Variety’s “10 Cinematographers to Watch” and is a member of the German and European Film Academies as well as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
ALL THAT’S LEFT OF YOU: Aoun lensed Cherien Dabis’ Palestinian family drama, which premiered at Sundance before heading to Karlovy Vary, Sydney, Red Sea, Marrakech, San Francisco, Thessaloniki, and Hong Kong. The film was also Jordan’s official submission to the Academy Awards, making it to the December shortlist, and won several awards. Aoun\'s cinematography was praised as “stunning” and “outstanding” by Vogue.
ORIGINAL SIN: Aoun also worked on a short by British Iraqi filmmaker Amrou Al-Kadhi, which premiered at the BFI London Film Festival. The film’s cinematography was lauded by critics as “startling” and “visually arresting”.
A Busy 2026 Ahead: Aoun is set to work on Isabella Eklöf’s MR. NAWASHI, Anthony Wonke’s IN THE SHADOWS, Caroline Link’s DIE JAHRE MIT DIR, and Simon Baumann’s ARCHITECTURE AT GUNPOINT.
