Committed to delivering cinematic and cultural experiences in the heart of Dubai and the region, Cinema Akil (CA) is the sole independent arthouse in the GCC. Launched in 2014 as a nomadic cinema, CA has hosted over 75 programs, attracting more than 90,000 attendees in the UAE. It also held its first regional pop-up in Doha during the 2022 World Cup, followed by a pop-up in Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia.
Quick Stats: Cinema Akil continues to grow as the region’s leading independent arthouse cinema, showcasing over 206 films from 49 countries in 2025 alone.
Reel Palestine 2026: The 12th edition featured 11 feature films and hosted the UAE premiere of ONCE UPON A TIME IN GAZA. A special screening of WAJIB was held to honor the legacy of the BUTHEINA KAZIM FOUNDER & MANAGING DIRECTOR | EMIRATI late Palestinian actor Mohammad Bakri.
Arab Cinema Week: The fourth edition featured 10 feature films from 10 Arab countries, including six Gulf premieres. Nearly half of the program was directed by women.
Educational Outreach: Partnered with the A.R.M. Holding Children’s Program to launch nationwide film initiatives for youth.
