Bonanza Films is a Cairo-based independent production company founded in 2019 by producer Sawsan Yusuf in collaboration with director and producer Morad Mostafa. The company has quickly positioned itself as a key platform for emerging Egyptian cinema, focusing on bold, socially grounded storytelling and close collaborations with new voices. Its early slate includes a series of internationally acclaimed short films by Mostafa, including HENET WARD, KHADIGA, and I PROMISE YOU PARADISE, the latter premiering at Cannes’ Critics’ Week, where it won the Rail d’Or, marking a major milestone for Egyptian short films on the global stage


TWELVE-MONTH HIGHLIGHT(S):

AISHA CAN’T FLY AWAY: Premiering at last Cannes’ Un Certain Regard — becoming the first Egyptian film to feature at the festival in close to a decade — Morad Mostafa’s debut feature had an impressive festival run, making its way to more than 15 festivals worldwide and winning a FIPRESCI Award at Yerevan, Best Film at Villa del Cine, and the Grand Jury Award at Valencia.
WE WERE ONCE HERE: Directed by Ahmed Abdelsalam, the project has been selected for the development grant at the 47th edition of CINEMED Montpellier.
ARABS OF MAADI: Written and directed by Ayten Amin, the project was selected for the Malmö Industry platform. The film marks Amin’s fourth feature following SOUAD, which was selected at both the Cannes and Berlin International Film Festivals. The film is produced by Yusuf alongside Louay Khraish, Dora Bouchoucha, and Mimmi Spång.
PERMIT: Directed by Rosana Kassim, the short film project has been awarded the Warsha 101 Prize at the Manassat Film Festival.
