
Alaa Alasad’s work spans independent cinema and international co-productions. His practice bridges development, financing, and cross-border collaboration, positioning him as an active player in the region’s evolving production landscape. Alasad has been involved in a number of internationally oriented projects, including collaborations with emerging Arab filmmakers such as Zain Duraie on GIVE UP THE GHOST and THE SEA NEEDS TO HEAVE, both of which participated in international development platforms and industry programs. His work reflects a focus on supporting new voices and shepherding projects from development through to global exposure. In addition to his producing work, Alasad is active across regional film initiatives and industry platforms, frequently participating in festivals and forums such as the Amman International Film Festival, where he has contributed as a moderator and industry figure. During the 2025 Berlinale, he was featured as a key guest and industry mentor at Berlinale Talents.
SINK: Alasad collaborated with Duraie once again on his latest feature, which premiered at TIFF and later BFI London, the Red Sea, Carthage, Mannheim-Heidelberg, and Malmö, winning several awards throughout its journey.
YUNAN: Alasad also produced Ameer Fakker Eldin’s second feature film, which premiered at the Berlinale before going on a festival run of more than 25 destinations, picking up a number of best film, best actor, and best cinematography awards.
JO OF MONTREAL: In late 2025, Alasad announced plans to shoot this upcoming feature from award-winning director Ameen Nayfeh in the summer of 2026. The project is a co-production between Jordan and Canada, supported by Telefilm Canada and AFAC.
Red Sea International Film Festival: Alasad was a prominent industry voice at the festival\'s fifth edition. He participated in panels alongside international experts and represented two of the three Red Sea Film Fund-supported films featured in the competition.
Amman International Film Festival: Alasad continues his long-term engagement with Jordan\'s premiere festival, returning to support local and regional filmmakers following his previous roles with AIFF’s industry arm.
Rotterdam Lab Award: His work continues to receive international backing, including a development prize from the CNC and the Rotterdam Lab Award for his upcoming production slate.
Tabi360: As a co-founder, Alasad has expanded the studio\'s portfolio to include Lara Zeidan\'s upcoming feature, which is currently in active pre-production for a 2026 shoot.
