CAREER HIGHLIGHT(S):

A key figure in Egypt’s new cinematic wave, Ahmed Malek has built an auspicious record of hit films and TV series, making him one of the Arab region’s most sought-after actors. His local film credits include SHEIKH JACKSON, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival; CLASH, which opened the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes; HEPTA: THE LAST LECTURE, the highest-grossing romantic film in Egyptian cinema history; NIGHT/EXT, which had its world premiere at Toronto; THE GUEST, winner of the Audience Award at Tallinn Black Nights; and Marwan Hamed’s KIRA & EL GEN. Internationally, he earned a 2021 Australian Academy of Cinema & Television Arts Award nomination for Best Actor for THE FURNACE, which premiered at Venice; starred in Netflix’s THE SWIMMERS, which opened Toronto and was a BAFTA contender; and starred in the BBC’s BOILING POINT with Stephen Graham. Named a TIFF Rising Star and one of Screen International’s Arab Talents of Tomorrow in 2018, he was later recognized by Forbes Middle East in 2024 among the Digital Stars Under 30. Beyond his acting career, Malek serves as Dior’s first male ambassador for fashion and fragrance in the Middle East and as Cartier’s ambassador for the region.


TWELVE-MONTH HIGHLIGHT(S):

MY FATHER’S SCENT: A family drama starring Malek with Kamel El Basha that premiered at Warsaw and went on an extensive festival tour. Malek’s performance earned him four Best Actor Awards, of which were at the El Gouna, Luxor African, and Hollywood Arab film festivals. The film also won the AlUla Audience Award.
Back-to-Back Ramadan Success: Malek made a powerful presence on the small screen across the latest two Ramadan seasons, beginning with the 2025 drama WELAD EL SHAMS, which became the season\'s most-watched series across the Arab World. He followed this success in the subsequent season with the romantic drama SAWA SAWA, reuniting with Huda El Mufti after they collaborated on MAT’AAM AL HABAYEB.
SIX DAYS: This romantic film reunited Malek with prolific scriptwriter Wael Hamdy after HEPTA: THE LAST LECTURE. For his outstanding performance, Malek earned a Best Actor nomination at the 2025 Joy Awards.
EGY BEST: Based on a true story, the film opened strongly at the Egyptian box office and went on to achieve notable commercial success.
