CAREER HIGHLIGHT(S):

A. A. Films is a Cairo-based production company launched in 2020 by filmmaker and screenwriter Ahmed Amer, whose screenwriting credits include WINTER OF DISCONTENT, which premiered at Venice; FEATHERS, winner of the Grand Prize at Cannes Critics’ Week; and KISS ME NOT, his directorial feature debut, which he produced and premiered at the Dubai International Film Festival. A.A. Films has produced and co-produced several award-winning Arab titles, including two selections at Cannes: AISHA CAN’T FLY AWAY by Morad Mostafa, which garnered multiple awards such as the Golden Palm Grand Jury Award at Mostra de València; and ONCE UPON A TIME IN GAZA by Arab and Tarzan Nasser, which received Cannes’ Best Director Award, in addition to Best Director, Best Arab Feature Film, and Best Actor (Majd Eid) at the Cairo International Film Festival. Among the latest co-productions is Angèle Diabang’s feature SO LONG A LETTER, which marks the first Senegalese-Egyptian collaboration. The film premiered at the FESPACO Film Festival and went on to screen at international festivals, including Locarno.

HAMLET FROM THE SLUMS: A. A. Films is producing this highly anticipated film co-written by Amer. The project was selected for the Cannes Film Festival’s L’Atelier program, won four awards at the fourth CineGouna SpringBoard, received sponsorship from IEFTA, and was also chosen for the Durban FilmMart’s Finance Forum, Malmö Industry Days, and Doha Film Institute’s Qumra.


Shorts in Spotlight: A.A. Films co-produced Abanoub Nabil’s THE UNNAMED, which premiered at the 46th Cairo International Film Festival and was later selected for the Alexandria Short Film Festival, along with Khaled Moeit’s ZIZOU.
