

AFAC was established in 2007 by a group of Arab cultural activists as an independent organization dedicated to supporting artists, writers, researchers, intellectuals, and cultural organizations from the Arab region. Over the past 15 years, AFAC has successfully raised $57m and awarded over $43m in grants to various projects.
2025 Slate: AFAC supported 45 films last year — 20 documentaries through its Documentary Film Program and 25 features and shorts through its Cinema Grant.
AFAC x Netflix Women in Film - Bring Your Story to Life: In partnership with Netflix, AFAC supported 20 aspiring Arab female filmmakers through a curated program of workshops, mentorship, and funding, providing hands-on experience and professional guidance in film development and production.
AFAC-Supported Films on the Global Stage: AISHA CAN’T FLY AWAY, L’MINA, and LIFE AFTER SIHAM at Cannes; COTTON QUEEN, ROQIA, and DO YOU LOVE ME? at Venice; and SAFE EXIT, THE DAY OF WRATH: TALES FROM TRIPOLI, and SOMEDAY A CHILD at Berlinale.
