CAREER HIGHLIGHT(S):
Wael Hamdy has been a professional screenwriter for over 20 years, during which he has written and co-written more than 20 diverse works across both cinema and television. These works include MECHANO, SAFAR BARLIK, and SOQOOT HOR, which starred Nelly Karim, in addition to modern book adaptations of A NOSE AND THREE EYES and HEPTA: THE LAST LECTURE, which became the most successful romantic film in the history of the Egyptian box office and earned Hamdy the Best Screenplay Award at the Egyptian National Film Festival.
He started his career in screenwriting by participating in a writing workshop for ALAM SIMSIM, the Egyptian version of SESAME STREET, which he later led from 2006 onwards. He then led the writing team for EL BAB FI EL BAB, the Egyptian version of the American sitcom EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND.
Hamdy is considered one of the most prominent script workshop developers and supervisors in recent years. In 2022, he supervised the Saudi-Kuwaiti drama development workshop 6x6, hosted by the National Creative Industries Foundation in collaboration with Netflix and the New York Film Academy in Kuwait City.
TWELVE-MONTH HIGHLIGHT(S):

MOFTARAQ TOROQ: Wael co-wrote the Shahid series starring Hend Sabry, which began streaming last June and became one of the most-watched series on the platform.
I DON'T CARE IF THE WORLD COLLAPSES: His second short was screened at international short film festivals such as Palm Springs, Cleveland, and Nashville last year.
A NOSE AND THREE EYES: Hamdy's adaptation of Ihsan Abdel-Quddous's novel won the Audience Award at Malmö.
6x6: He supervised the second edition of the writing workshop, which started in April 2024.
6 DAYS: His romantic movie starring Ahmed Malek and Aya Samaha was released in cinemas last January.
HEPTA: THE LAST DEBATE: Eight years after the release of the highest-grossing romance flick in Egyptian box office history, which he penned, Hamdy now returns to supervise the script development of its sequel, starring a new cast of hit talents like Menna Shalaby, Karim Fahmy, Salma Abu Deif, Asmaa Galal, Karim Kassem, Mayan El Sayed, and Hassan Malek.
