While heavily reliant on its international catalog, which has over 7,400 titles, including 589 new originals added in 2024, Netflix has also introduced a few Arabic originals, starting with the Jordanian supernatural horror series JINN, which was released in 2019. Netflix also took the lead in streaming Arabic classics, acquiring the rights to Egyptian director Youssef Chahine’s films in June 2020, followed by the addition of more recent titles from across the Arab World. New Arabic Originals: documentary series SAUDI PRO LEAGUE: KICKOFF, SAND CASTLE film featuring Nadine Labaki and Ziad Bakri, Egyptian thriller series ECHOES OF THE PAST, the second season of the 1980s Kuwaiti stock market THE EXCHANGE, Mohammed Amer’s comedy MO, and the second season of Hend Sabry’s rom-com FINDING OLA, which premiered with dubbed versions in 190 countries, attracting over 800,000 subscribers, and recording more than 4.6m viewing hours.
