CAREER HIGHLIGHT(S):
Born in Gaza, Almughanni is a film director and screenwriter. He earned his
Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Film Directing from the Łódź Film School in Poland. His films, which
focus on racial justice and the socio-political life of Palestinians under the Israeli occupation, have garnered
awards at festivals including IDFA and Clermont-Ferrand.
TWELVE-MONTH HIGHLIGHT(S): AN ORANGE FROM JAFFA: Almughanni’s latest short film won the 2024 Grand Prix at Clermont-Ferrand
and was subsequently shortlisted for an Academy Award. Feature Documentary Project: set in the Shatila refugee camp in Beirut, the film builds on Almughanni’s
short, SON OF THE STREETS.
