CAREER HIGHLIGHT(S):
Born in Mogadishu, Mo Harawe is an alumnus of Berlinale Talents. His filmography includes several compelling shorts, among them are LIFE ON THE HORN, which received a Special Mention at Locarno and Best Short Film at Carthage, and WILL MY PARENTS COME AND SEE ME, which held its world premiere at Berlinale Shorts, was nominated for the European Film Award, and won the Grand Prix at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival as well as a German LOLA and Austrian Film Award for Best Short Film in 2023.

TWELVE-MONTH HIGHLIGHT(S):
THE VILLAGE NEXT TO PARADISE: Being the first Somali film to be featured in the Official Selection of Cannes’ Un Certain Regard, Harawe’s debut feature has had quite the journey, winning five awards from Chicago, Sarajevo, and Munich, in addition to screening the world over since its release back in May 2024.
Traveling the World: Harawe’s film was also selected as part of the TIFF’s Centerpiece Program and was screened at Marrakech, Durban, and Melbourne.
