Since its foundation in 1972 by the late world-renowned Egyptian filmmaker Youssef Chahine, Misr International Films has produced and distributed over 50 films, most of which have won international awards. As a fully integrated film company, MIF has two domestic distribution arms: MIF Distribution, which distributes Egyptian and foreign films, including AFD films from major studios such as Disney and Colu and as independent foreign titles; and Zawya Distribution, which distributes arthouse films. MIF also launched Orient Films (OF) to distribute Egyptian films in the GCC.
2024 Triumphs: Orient Films distributed 10 Egyptian blockbusters throughout 2024, including WELAD RIZK 3, which brought in over $22m from 20 markets worldwide.
