CAREER HIGHLIGHT(S):
Maha kicked off her filmmaking career working as an art designer on THE
TIME THAT REMAINS by Elia Suleiman and THE ATTACK by Ziad Douairi. Besides that, Maha wrote and
directed the short film ORANGES and the documentary BEHIND THESE WALLS.
In 2015, she got her first big break with her first feature film, PERSONAL AFFAIRS, which premiered to
critical acclaim at the 69th Cannes’ Un Certain Regard before traveling far and wide and winning numerous
awards, including the Critics Award at Cinemed.
Years later, in 2022, her film MEDITERRANEAN FEVER won Best Screenplay at Cannes

UPSHOT: Starring Mohammad Bakri and Areen Omari, Maha’s narrative short about a Palestinian
couple's carefully constructed fantasy life to avoid a devastating revelation from their past premiered at
Locarno, where it won the Golden Pardino Award, before winning two more awards at the GFF and
Clermont-Ferrand.
