CAREER HIGHLIGHT(S):
El-Basha began his career as a stage actor in the 1980s and was the
former artistic director of the Palestinian National Theater in Jerusalem from 2007 to 2011. He has also
served as the artistic director of Quds Art since 2012. He gained critical acclaim in 2017 when he won the
Volpi Cup for Best Actor during the 74th Venice International Film Festival for his role in Lebanese director
Ziad Doueiri’s THE INSULT, which was also an Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Language Film.
In the following years, he starred in several award-winning Arab films, including THE REPORTS ON SARAH
AND SALEEM, THE TRANSLATOR, and HUDA’S SALON. He broke into the Egyptian cinemascape in 2020
with CURFEW and Shahid’s ROOM 207 horror series in 2022.

International Titles: El-Basha starred in ABC network’s series HOUSE OF GODS, along with one episode
of Netflix’s original series MO.
Festival Appearances: He starred in Laila Abbas’ THANK YOU FOR BANKING WITH US!, which was the
Best Arab Narrative at the GFF; AN ORANGE FROM JAFFA, a short that was shortlisted for the Oscars;
and MY FATHER'S SCENT — a project that won several awards at the 2024 Final Cut in Venice.
