CAREER HIGHLIGHT(S):
The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra), powered by Saudi Aramco, has been a springboard
for many great talents in the kingdom’s fast-evolving filmmaking industry. Ithra is the driving force behind several programs supporting
filmmaking in Saudi Arabia. It is home to Saudi Film Production, Saudi Film Days, and the Ithra Film Society. Ithra has also teamed up with
the Cinema Society in Dhahran to introduce programs and initiatives designed to aid the development of the film sector in the kingdom
and help local industry professionals. In 2018, Ithra launched its film support program, Ithra Film Production (IFP), which introduced
various initiatives aiming to provide platforms for film producers, elevate filmmaking standards, and empower new talent. Since its
inception, IFP has funded 20 titles and produced four films, which have been featured at 95 film festivals worldwide, earning 34 awards.
TWELVE-MONTH HIGHLIGHT(S):
Supporting the Saudi Film Festival: Ithra supported the 11th edition of the festival, which featured a lineup of 68 films.
IFP Selections: Ithra’s funding initiative selected 15 Saudi projects for development. Among the winning filmmakers were Shahad
Ameen, Hisham Fageeh, and Abdulrahman Jarash.
