CAREER HIGHLIGHT(S):
While she was a student at the High Institute of Cinema in Cairo, Heba
directed and wrote several award-winning short films before directing the fourth season of the crowd
favorite sitcom TAMER & SHAWKEYA in 2009.
Two years later, she presented SETTOU ZAD, MY FIRST PASSION — a documentary that tells the story of
her grandmother and how she was influenced by her, which premiered at the 2011 Dubai International Film
Festival.
In 2017, she was part of a trio of female filmmakers who created the successful 67-episode TV dramedy
SABE' GAAR.
TWELVE-MONTH HIGHLIGHT(S):
AL HAWAA SULTAN: Written and directed by Heba and starring Mena Shalaby in a mid-budget
production, the film was a fresh take on romance and friendship, a genre rarely explored and succeeded in
the contemporary film industry in Egypt.
Regional Box Office Hit: Beyond critical acclaim, the film was a box office hit, grossing around $1.6m in
Egypt over a 17-week run, topping local charts for four weeks. In Saudi Arabia, it added another $3.2m,
ranking 19th among the year’s top-grossing films and pulling in over $600,000 in the UAE.
