Bouhafa claims and always balances his two cultures, developing a unique style by playing with orientalist clichés with over 100 Arab and international titles, such as TIMBUKTU, for which he received a César for Best Original Score and the Grand Prize France Musique-Sacem; Kaouther Ben Hania’s BEAUTY AND THE DOGS (Best Sound Creation at the Cannes Film Festival)’ LOOKING FOR OUM KULTHUM by Iranian director Shirin Neshat; Sudanese film YOU WILL DIE AT TWENTY, Oscar Nominee THE MAN WHO SOLD HIS SKIN; and FOUR DAUGHTERS, which won the Golden Eye Documentary Prize at the 76th Cannes, the César Award for Best Documentary, and was nominated for the Oscars In France, he scored the animation film THE SUMMIT OF THE GODS, arte’s series LE MONDE DE DEMAIN, HISTOIRES D’UNE NATION documentary, three seasons of THE ADVENTURES OF PADDINGTON, CLASS ACT mini-series, and ALONG CAME LOVE feature.

Films: He composed the score for AÏCHA by Tunisian director Mehdi Barsaoui, which premiered at the 81st Venice, and ALL THAT’S LEFT OF YOU by Palestinian-American filmmaker Cherien Dabis, which premiered at the 41st Sundance Film Festival.
TV: His recent work includes the Netflix original ECHOES OF THE PAST, released in December 2024, and the French miniseries NISMET.
