CAREER HIGHLIGHT(S):
Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, to Syrian parents from the occupied Golan Heights, Fakher Eldin is based in Hamburg. Premiering at the 78th Venice International Film Festival, his debut feature, THE STRANGER, won the Edipo Re Award in 2021 before enjoying great acclaim on the global film festival circuit, winning over ten prizes. Moreover, it was nominated for Best Director and won Best Cinematography at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards. THE STRANGER is the first installment of a trilogy called HOME. The second installment, YUNAN, features a star-studded pan-Arab cast alongside several international actors in a co-production involving Germany, France, Italy, and Palestine. The cast includes renowned Lebanese director George Khabbaz, German actress Sibel Kekilli, and lead icon of German cinema Hanna Schygulla.

TWELVE-MONTH HIGHLIGHT(S):
From Berlin With Love: YUNAN premiered at the 75th Berlinale in February, where it was the only Arab film in the Main Competition.
Double Awards at the HKIFF: The 49th edition of the Hong Kong International Film Festival awarded YUNAN’s leading actors, George Khabbaz and Hanna Schygula, Best Actor and Best Actress in April 2025.
