After US troops withdrew from Iraq in 2011, Ziad F. Jawad — a zealous cinema enthusiast — took on the task of reviving the country’s cinema industry and restoring it to the glory of its heydays, eventually establishing Iraqi Cinema. Since then, as the CEO of Iraqi Cinema, Jawad has been rebuilding the country’s cinematic infrastructure, establishing new branches, increasing the number of screens and seats, introducing state-of-the-art cinematic technology and bringing in a plethora of Iraqi, Arab, and global landmark films every year. Currently, Iraqi Cinema is the number one exhibitor in Iraq, covering 75% of its market.

TWELVE-MONTH HIGHLIGHT(S):
Recently, Iraqi Cinema opened a new venue in Jadriyah Mall with 12 screens and equipped one of them with Onyx screening technology for the first time in Iraq. It is also planning to open the first-ever IMAX movie theater in Baghdad in early 2025.
