Schoucair founded Abbout Productions in 2003 to produce and distribute Arab and international arthouse titles globally. Abbout includes Shortcut Films, which co-produced Berlinale Silver Bear winner FELICITÉ by French Senegalese Alain Gomisand and ZAMA by Argentinian director Lucrecia Martel. Schoucair also founded Beirut's Maskoon Fantastic Film Festival and MC Distribution and is VP of Metropolis. In 2017, he was selected among the 2017 Variety500 Honorees for his works.
Abbout’s latest productions are Myriam El Hajj’s DIARIES FROM LEBANON, which premiered at the 2024 Berlinale’s Panorama Section, where it received warm praise and a standing ovation from the audiences, and Cyril Aris’s DANCING ON THE EDGE OF A VOLCANO, which premiered at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival and won the Special Jury Mention. It then had a successful festival tour, going to the London, Montpellier, and Rome MedFilm festivals. Most recently, the company started the development of Nadim Tabet’s feature horror UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
