CAREER HIGHLIGHT(S):
The Doha Film Institute (DFI) is dedicated to film appreciation, education, and building a dynamic film industry that focuses on nurturing regional storytellers while being entirely global in its scope. It serves as an all-encompassing film hub in Doha and a resource for the region and the rest of the world.
The DFI hosts two major film festivals, Ajyal Film Festival and Qumra, each year. Since its inception in 2010, the DFI has financially supported over 650 Arab and international projects from development through post-production.
TWELVE-MONTH HIGHLIGHT(S):
The DFI announced the 44 titles selected for its 2023 autumn funding round, with titles hailing from 32 countries, including Afghanistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, and the US. Five of the projects are from Qatar-based filmmakers, while 20 of the grant recipients are women filmmakers.
