TWELVE-MONTH HIGHLIGHT(S):
Lagoonie is an associate producer for the Jordanian film INSHALLAH A BOY which will premiere in Cannes’s Critics’ Week this May. She recently signed an agreement to produce three Saudi feature films that support women. Lagoonie just released its family comedy flick SA'ET EGABA, which starred 16 Megastars, in Egypt and other Arab markets.

in 2017, Shahinaz founded Lagoonie. Since then she has managed to produce and distribute 11 films of different Arab nationalities, including the award-winning FEATHERS (Egypt), THE ALLEYS and DAUGHTERS OF ABDULRAHMAN from Jordan, AMIRA and HUDA'S SALON from Palestine and others.


What character do you identify with?
Hard to tell; I am just me, not related to a specific character.

Who’s your hero?
A mother who takes care of her children on her own, got no help but herself, struggling to provide for her children's needs; she is my real Hero.

What’s the industry’s most troubling trend?
Unfairness.

2024 will be the year that MENA finally does what?
I think that we are finally more open to the world in MENA. For many years we were enclosed in our ideas, but now we are exchanging ideas with others all over the world

What was your first job?
A teacher at my dad’s school.

What’s your secret daily habit or guilty pleasure?
Smoking.

What would have been your dream job if you didn’t end up doing what you’re doing?
Sailing with my dogs, doing nothing but fishing and eating grilled fish, and enjoying watching birds.
