Besides being one of the few TV presenters that covers the film and TV
industry with any real depth in the Arab world, Lana is now embarking on a burgeoning filmmaking
career. She co-wrote a successful TV series on MBC’s Shahid called ON THE EDGE.
TWELVE-MONTH HIGHLIGHT(S):
She extended her coverage to Berlinale and Cannes festivals in
2023. THE STRANGER, another Shahid series that she wrote, is expected to stream this May. And an
Egyptian feature will start shooting in Summer. She recently completed her directorial debut on the short
film, MIRRORS.

Nawal El Saadawi, the Egyptian feminist writer; she’s not only a
hero, she's my idol.
What’s the industry’s most troubling trend? ?
Gender inequality in the film industry.
2024 will be the year that MENA finally does what? ?
2024 will be the year that MENA is able to complete and
participate in the production of international films.
What was your first job? ?
An article writer.

I play puzzles, but It’s not a secret.

What would have been your dream job if you didn’t end up doing
what you’re doing? ?
To be an inspirational and aspiring writer that was capable of
conveying people’s feelings and presenting them in an artistic
writing form.
