Maryam Touzani
Tangier-born filmmaker and actress Maryam, who played the lead in her husband Nabil Ayouch’s film SALIMA, is best known so far as the director of the critically acclaimed film ADAM, which was selected for Un Certain Regard in Cannes 2019 and selected as Morocco’s Oscar entry. She returns to Un Certain Regard this year with THE BLUE CAFTAN, which stars Lubna Azabal and Saleh Bakri as a couple who run a shop in one of Morocco’s oldest medinas. A co-production involving Morocco, France, Belgium and Denmark, the film is being distributed in France through Ad Vitam, with international sales handled by Films Boutique.
