Started by Egypt’s leading production company in 2019, the SVOD platform WatchIt suffered technical difficulties in its early years. Now owner UMS has announced plans to revamp the streaming service by focusing on content acquisitions and original production as well as improving usability to promote the service regionally and globally. With over 50,000 hours of content including film classics and a large catalogue of the state TV archive through decades of production, WatchIt can also count on a regular supply of Ramadan TV series from UMS, which produces more than 15 a year for the peak viewing season.
