Sameh Zoabi
The inspired conceit behind his 2018 film TEL AVIV ON FIRE, Sameh’s smart satire about Israeli-Palestinian relations, is that the film uses the filming of nightly soap opera in Ramallah to lampoon stereotypical attitudes about Arabs and Jews. A double award winner at Venice, the film went onto enjoy plaudits at Toronto and other festivals. He became more active during lockdown preparing for TV and film projects. He is planning to shoot soon his new film CATCH THE MOON, a British-French-Egyptian co-production that MAD Solutions will be handling for sales and distribution in the Arab world. The film follows a father and son who attempt to a get a brand new Mercedes into Gaza at any cost during an Israeli blockade after the father promises the son’s new bride the car as a gift.
