Marwan Hamed
Director
Egypt
Marwan set a new record for Egyptian cinema when BLUE ELEPHANT 2, a psychological horror mystery that was
sequel to his own 2014 box office hit, grossed more $14 million at theatres around the Arab world. Now
Marwan is shooting his new film KIRA & EL GIN, whose $10 million budget is reputed to be the largest ever
for an Egyptian film. Combining some of the biggest stars in Egypt and the Arab world—Karim Abdel Aziz,
Ahmed Ezz, Hend Sabry and Ahmed Malek, all featured in the Actors list—this period drama is based on
another book 1919 by Ahmed Mourad, the same novelist who wrote the source material for BLUE ELEPHANT.
Produced by Synergy Films, the film chronicles the reality of Egyptian society in 1919, when a countrywide
revolution broke out against the British occupation. Marwan has another three projects in the pipeline.
