Ayten’s second feature SOUAD, which was selected for last year’s canceled Cannes Film Festival and then played at others including this year’s Berlinale and the Tribeca Film Festival with the Cannes Label, is a touching portrait of three young Egyptians and the tragic events that binds them. Her film won the Best Actress award at Tribeca, for both main actresses, the first time that an Arab film had won such an award at the New York festival. Her previous films include VILLA 69 and one of the segments of TAHRIR 2011, along with Amr Salama.
