As the world’s largest exhibition chain, AMC has endured a torrid year as a result of all the
enforced lockdowns in the countries it operates in. Burning cash throughout the pandemic, AMC
seemed to be on the verge bankruptcy. But having bought time with various debt and equity deals,
AMC is looking forward to a restoration in box office revenues and is even buying up rival
chains that went out of business. In Saudi Arabia, where it was the first company to open a
cinema there, it now has 9 different venues and is pursuing expansion as KSA rapidly grows to
become one of the world’s top ten box office markets.
