NAJIB AYAD
DIRECTOR OF CARTHAGE FILM FESTIVAL
TUNISIA
Journées Cinématographiques de Carthage,
or JCC, is technically the oldest film festival still
active in the Arab world and Africa. What began
as a biennial event in Tunis established itself as an
annual fixture in 2014. Despite being held in a city
lacking somewhat in exhibition infrastructure, JCC
can also claim to be the leading audience festival in
the Arab world with fans lining up outside the few
remaining movie theatres.
