TUNISIA
In March, Tunis saw the opening of what it calls
“the largest cultural complex in the Maghreb, the
Arab world and Africa”, a 22-acre City of Culture
in central Tunis that includes a host of viewing
auditoria and also audiovisual library dedicated
to preserving Tunisian cinema. It is the first Cinemateque
in the Arab world. The $50m complex is
further confirmation of Tunisia’s status in the most
stable Arab country in terms of providing a reliable
stream of high quality local films every year.
