Founded in 1976, the prestigious Cairo International Film Festival takes place annually in Cairo as the only international competitive film festival acknowledged by the FIAPF in the Arab world and Africa. The festival features a parti-colored program including international competition and out of completion sections along with several film screenings and festive events, such as the Cairo Film Connection that aims to empower Arab filmmakers to take their projects to the next level.
