Firas is best known for directing the well regarded short film MARADONA’S LEGS and now his debut feature film ALAM, a coming-of-age drama about an
apathetic Palestinian-Israeli teenager who finds himself drawn into political activism by the arrival of a beautiful new student.
Firas has been kept busy throughout the last year thanks to ALAM, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and then went on to win
three awards at the Cairo International Film Festival including the Audience Award.
The film also picked up prizes at the Brussels Mediterranean Cinema Festival, a NETPAC for Best Asian Work at the Kerala International Film Festival,
and recently, the Tetouan Mediterranean Film Festival’s Best Debut Feature Film Award.
